■開催趣旨
みなさんは、動物にどんな印象を抱くでしょうか。一緒に暮らすペットを家族のように感じたり、野生の動物に恐れや憧れを感じたり・動物には「かわいい！」「かっこいい！」というようなひとことでは言い表せない、不思議で複雑な魅力があります。そんな動物たちに感じる、“ワンダーな感覚”が、芸術家たちの創作意欲を掻き立て、多種多様な方法で表現されてきたのかもしれません。
本展「ワンダー・アニマルズ」では、絵画作品を中心に、ガラスや彫刻など多彩な動物アートを紹介します。毛の1本1本まで本物そっくりに描かれた写実的な作品や、カラフルでデフォルメされたキャラクターのような描写・・。作家が動物から何を感じ、どう表現したのか。想像しながら鑑賞してみてください。
全国から公募した小中学生の入選作品を展示する「第9回全国こども絵画コンクール in かさま」とあわせてお楽しみください。

What are your thoughts on animals?
Pets are like family, while wild animals can be scary yet also awe-inspiring. They fascinate us with their mysterious and complex nature.
This sense of wonder that we feel towards animals has inspired artists to express their creativity in various ways.
"Fantastic Animals: The Wonder of Life Through Art" showcases paintings, glass art and sculptures. The animals are depicted either realistically, down to the individual hairs, or as colourful, deformed characters.
